You’ve found my new blog page – However, I am not new to blogging…
The Yeomans Blog
As a storyteller, “blogging” is right up my street. I started The Yeoman’s blog several years ago with the overriding caveat that I just wanted people to share their views openly, constructively, and positively. Nobody is ever right all the time and everybody has the right to hold a view; my aim is to pick up on the things that really matter to our society, and to try and help to get to the best possible solution. People will often disagree and that’s a good, healthy thing in any democracy, but I draw the line at unnecessary rudeness, foul language, or bullying of any kind; if it occurs I will have no hesitation in blocking the guilty party for life.
I desperately want to hear the views of others, and look forward to some scintillating exchanges but please let such exchanges be driven by intellectual views and discussion. We all have a voice and your opinion matters, let’s hear it…
Time for Britain to be Great Again
For half of my adult life, I was required to take an A-political position due to my military service, with which I had no concerns. Since retirement, I have always tried to do my public duty and cast a vote in the various elections, whether national or local, to...
Rwanda – Really?
Allow a fresh mind to take over at the Home Office Does anybody actually have faith in the latest Government policy on deportation of illegal immigrants, or am I right to bracket it as yet another half-baked government policy doomed to failure? The Foreign Secretary...
A Typical French Farce
ECL Final Police actions were unacceptable The actions of the French authorities and specifically the Police at last nights ECL Final was completely unacceptable. Why on Earth is there a need to use tear gas on a perfectly well behaved queue of Liverpool fans? It just...
Outstanding Human Being
Genuine Heroism There are times when people’s actions in the face of true adversity make me realise what genuine heroism looks like. There is no greater example of this than Dame Deborah James or the “Bowelbabe” as she has become known. Her courage, selflessness, and...
Build Back Better
As the UK Government trumpeted the plan to establish a number of Free Ports across the country as a leading edge component of their master plan to level up, I was enthused. Not just because I had started my business in the COVID era, which was pretty challenging in...
Politics – A Very Nasty Business
I find it quite nauseous to watch the frenzied scramble of opposition politicians and the worthless breakfast TV press as they salivate at the prospect of Boris Johnson’s self created nightmare. “Why”, I hear many shout in anger, “he is guilty of lying to Parliament...
Harry – From Hero To Zero
All my friends know how important maintaining the UK is to me, and my pride in being British. As a Highland Scot I have written several blogs on my opinion of Nicola Sturgeon and the damage she and her party are doing to Scotland, and to what I have always believed to...
What Price Freedom Day?
I wrote this post yesterday, but didn’t post it for various reasons. However, I am delighted to be proven wrong in regard to my point on the Government and PM not showing courage and true leadership; they have done exactly that and I applaud them for it. My original...
Eurovision Song “Contest”
I have never been shy in coming forward, particularly when it comes to blatant cheating. In truth, I can't think of many things less interesting than Eurovision and I have always believed it to be something that second rate, largely talentless singers compete in....
United We Must Stand or Together We Will Fall
So Boris is bringing the devolved nations to heel at last, but why have successive central governments let things get this far. Scotland, or at least Nicola Sturgeon, is baying for independence as though she has no responsibilities to the UK Government and acting as...
Surprised? – You Must Be Joking
I can hardly believe the recent furore over the news that David Cameron and other ex-MP’s have been accused of lobbying former colleagues. It’s neither new nor illegal, given the rules are followed and yes, such rules actually exist; in fact they were largely written...
Football – The Peoples Game – Yeah Right
I can genuinely say I have loved football all of my life. Like the vast majority of kids I dreamt of playing for my favourite club, being the next Denis Law and becoming famous; but just like the other 99.9% of young boys, I just wasn’t good enough. Once I got over...
