George’s Blog

You’ve found my new blog page –  However, I am not new to blogging…

The Yeomans Blog

As a storyteller, “blogging” is right up my street.  I started The Yeoman’s blog several years ago with the overriding caveat that I just wanted people to share their views openly, constructively, and positively.  Nobody is ever right all the time and everybody has the right to hold a view; my aim is to pick up on the things that really matter to our society, and to try and help to get to the best possible solution.  People will often disagree and that’s a good, healthy thing in any democracy, but I draw the line at unnecessary rudeness, foul language, or bullying of any kind; if it occurs I will have no hesitation in blocking the guilty party for life.

I desperately want to hear the views of others, and look forward to some scintillating exchanges but please let such exchanges be driven by intellectual views and discussion.  We all have a voice and your opinion matters, let’s hear it…

Sexual Predators in Westminster

Sexual Predators in Westminster I listened in complete disbelief and abject dismay as the news reporter explained how a redacted list of MPs is produced in Westminster, and circulated to newly appointed female members.  The list is apparently comprised of known sexual...

Pothole Hell The current repair bill to address the UK’s ever degrading, pothole ravaged roads reportedly sits at £14bn, which is simply mind boggling.  The question, of course, is when will the national repair programme commence and the truthful answer is there is no...

Energy Crisis – Is It A Crisis?

I am really confused as to why the general public is not being more vocal about the ongoing energy farce.  Whilst the Government is hiding behind the excuse that “Boris has no power to intervene” given his resignation, and neither Liz nor Rishi have the authority, we...

38 Years On – Lest We Forget

The 14th June saw the 38th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands and whilst I blogged about a dear friend, Lt Jim Barry, who lost his life at the Battle of Goose Green, I didn't go any further at that point as I was getting a little maudlin, which is...

My Worst Nightmare v A Dream

. When the rats were lining up to desert Boris’ sinking ship, I made the point that I was gravely concerned that the Government would rush headlong to appoint a new leader. I didn’t think I was saying anything ground breaking, because the delay the country needs to...

My Favourite Poem

My Favourite Poem I have written lots of poetry over the years which is not something you would normally attribute to an ex-military man. I have always loved words and have used them to screen myself from pain on many an occasion during my life; the first of these...

What Does the PCC Actually Bring?

As a Wiltshire resident I am concerned to learn that our county constabulary has been placed into “special measures” by HMICFRS, a body I greatly respect.  I was interested to watch as Wiltshire’s Chief Constable, Kier Pritchard, tried to explain his force’s rapid...
