You’ve found my new blog page – However, I am not new to blogging…
The Yeomans Blog
As a storyteller, “blogging” is right up my street. I started The Yeoman’s blog several years ago with the overriding caveat that I just wanted people to share their views openly, constructively, and positively. Nobody is ever right all the time and everybody has the right to hold a view; my aim is to pick up on the things that really matter to our society, and to try and help to get to the best possible solution. People will often disagree and that’s a good, healthy thing in any democracy, but I draw the line at unnecessary rudeness, foul language, or bullying of any kind; if it occurs I will have no hesitation in blocking the guilty party for life.
I desperately want to hear the views of others, and look forward to some scintillating exchanges but please let such exchanges be driven by intellectual views and discussion. We all have a voice and your opinion matters, let’s hear it…
Justice for Andrew – He Died Serving Us!
PC Andrew Harper was a committed young police officer with his career lying ahead of him; a career in which he would have been repeatedly asked to put himself in harm’s way in order to protect the public and enforce law and order. He would have delivered on those...
It’s Not Only Weight You Can Lose With Diet Drinks!
Like a lot of my fellow countrymen, I am a Type 2 diabetic; indeed, I was diagnosed 20 years ago. I take a very pragmatic view of such things and given I am neither overweight or unfit, I don't feel any personal guilt. As my lovely old mam used to say "there's always...
The United Kingdom Lacks Unity
Listening to the news this morning, I felt my heart sink when the Scottish Government's decision to enforce post-holiday self-isolation on returning travellers was announced. Not necessarily because it's wrong, I'm not qualified to make that call, but simply because...
1 Month From Today
I am the first to admit that life has been good to me. I have enjoyed two wonderful careers in ICT and worked for and with some fantastic people along the way. I was also lucky enough to find my calling in the first career as a soldier and that doesn't happen too...
A Day Out At The Beach
I'm not a cynic by nature but when lockdown was first announced I really couldn't see the general public getting behind it. My concern was how hard the police were going to have to work to enforce the situation without the appropriate statutory powers to enforce it. I...
What’s In A Name? – More Than You Think
I had heard the word BAME prior to the lockdown and to be completely honest, I thought here we go again with yet another completely unhelpful, divisive and unnecessary description of a part of our society. Well, since lockdown commenced we have witnessed some...
The Open Door Policy Costs Lives
Yet another day where we have to reflect on the brutal, senseless slaughter of innocents. Murdered in cold blood by someone we welcomed into our country and embraced within our multicultural society; why on earth did he come here in the first instance other than to...
Clap Them On Thursday – Attack Them On Friday!
People attacking Ambulance crews has always struck me as utterly contemptuous and whilst a significant number of such attacks are driven by alcohol, many are just acts of thuggery committed by scumbags. Alcohol isn’t an excuse for such behaviour and I firmly believe...
Racism! – Some Simple Facts
I have detested racism all of my life, but to be absolutely clear I mean all racism not just against one race, colour, creed or religion. It has no place in our world and it would certainly be an achievement for mankind if we can all work together to eradicate it once...
How On Earth…..
From the start of this pandemic I have been dubious of the various statistics being bandied around, both here in UK and more so across the globe. In fairness, I accepted that the focus probably wasn’t on producing Impeccable statistics but on saving lives in an...
America Is Burning – Deal With Racism Now!
I think most people accept that Donald Trump is a buffoon who is simply not fit to hold the office of President of the world’s most powerful nation. Sadly, this is a fact that we can not impact, but must hope that the American people remove him at the next...
Just Why Web Will Remember Him
I’m sitting in my garden in beautiful sunshine enjoying a nice cold beer and my mind drifts back 38 years to the day. At this time in 1982 we were at war with Argentina and engaged in the liberation of the Falkland Islands, following the illegal invasion by...
